I have earned many awards in my lifetime, some including the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize in 1971, the Kennedy Prize in 1971, the Albert Schweitzer International Prize in 1975, the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, and the Congressional Gold Medal in 1997. I started "The Missionaries of Charity", which now works around the world help those in need. It even became an International Religious Family thanks to Pope Paul VI in 1965.
Setbacks
I had my first heart attack while with Pope John Paul II 1983, and another one in 1989, after which I had to be fitted with a pacemaker. I also had problems with pneumonia, heart failure, broken ribs, malaria, blocked blood vessels, a broken collarbone, malarial fever, and left ventricle failure in the 8 years leading up to my death in 1997. Despite this, I still led The Missionaries of Charity as the Superior General until only a little while before my death, and I still worked to better the world.
